How long is service?
We start with singing and prayer time. After you'll hear a sermon from our pastor or, on occasion, a guest speaker. At the end of our service, we create space to respond to God's invitation and come into His presence just as you are. You will also find that from time to time our services include drama or video presentations that support the message. To get a feel for our teaching style, check out some of our past sermon.
What can I expect when I show up?
All of our songs, prayers, and teachings come from the Word of God.
We believe worship should involve joyous and upbeat songs of praise, times of quiet awe and prayer, an opportunity to hear God's Word, and a time to respond in faith and obedience.
While we do not do anything during service to call you out as new, keep in mind we are a smaller church. So, when you come to Village Calvary you can expect to be greeted and welcomed by people excited that you are there. Feel free to come in, grab a free drink and donut, and find a seat.
What is your music style?
Our music is lead by our worship team and accompanied by a live band. You will find that everyone at Village Calvary worships in their own way. This might mean singing, clapping, raising their arms or quietly reflecting on the scriptural lyrics.
People ask, "What style of music do you do at Village Calvary?" Blended? Eclectic? Cutting Edge? The truth is we're not any one of those but rather all those and much more. You'll hear songs off the Christian radio, classics from the past, and even a hymn or two modernized. So, if you like variety, relevant and God-honoring lyrics, you'll love Village Calvary worship. Give a listen to our Spotify Playlist to get an idea of some of the different songs we like to sing.
Where do my children go during service?
We love children and want them to know how loved they are by God. On Sundays, we have a children's Sunday school and nursery. However, it is up to the parents whether you want your child to sit with you in service or attend Children's Church. When you arrive, you can head across the room to the opposite side where you'll find our children's check-in table. During service infants - 5th grade enjoy a time of playing, singing, crafts, and a Bible lesson.
AWANA CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
While we don't have a children's Sunday school class during service, we do offer an AWANA program Sunday evenings at 4:30. This is a well establish nation wide program that encourages children to learn, memorize and apply God's word through Bible stories, workbooks, and games.
Our Village Calvary Student Ministry is for grades 6-12. On Sundays all teens stay in service during the worship music. After the music time, grades 6-12 are invited to head upstairs for a time of fellowship and preaching from our Student Ministries Pastor. We also offer a Wednesday night youth group at 6:00pm. The evening begins with a time playing games and building friendships followed by a focused time of teaching. The aim is to grow teens in their relationship with Jesus and knowledge of the Bible, as well as how to live out the gospel every day.
What should I wear?
You can expect to see a wide range of clothing styles from business casual to very casual. Wear what you makes you feel comfortable.
Do you offer adult Sunday school classes?
We have Sunday school classes called Discovery Hour held at 8:45 am before the main service. This is a great time to dive deeper into topics in God's word through teaching and discussion in a smaller setting. We also offer adult life groups that meet during the week, as well as men's and women's Bible studies.
