Called into Grace

What does it mean to be truly transformed? Not in a surface-level, self-improvement kind of way, but fundamentally changed from the inside out? That is the heart of what we explore as we continue through 1 Peter. We are strangers in this world, set apart, peculiar in the best possible sense, and that identity carries with it both a calling and a reaction. Drawing from 1 Peter 1, we see that our salvation was not an afterthought. The prophets searched and inquired carefully about the grace that was coming to us, meaning our place in God's story was planned long before we arrived. From Zechariah's prophecy of a king coming on a donkey to the suffering and glory of Christ, the thread of redemption runs through all of Scripture and leads directly to us. The central insight is this: transformation requires a reaction. God is not simply changing us for our own comfort. He is equipping us for ministry, for building up the body of Christ. Every believer is called to that work. The question we are left with is not whether we are called, but how we are responding to that call.
